Grant success!
We are delighted to have received a grant from Sussex Lund, a collaboration between the High Weald AONB Partnership and the Lund Trust, a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin to restore our school pond and develop our environmental area.
Our school pond has been a fantastic resource for environmental education in the past, but sadly, the liner has developed a leak and the dipping platform has rotted and made this area unsafe to use. Most of the pond has dried up, and the whole area has become overgrown with brambles.
The very generous funding we have received from Sussex Lund, will enable us to replace the liner, create a new deck area and provide pathways to allow easy access for the children. The whole area will be fenced and additional hedging will be planted around the perimeter.
The Living Forest team will help us implement this project and the children will also be involved in tree planting, meadow sowing and routine maintenance tasks where appropriate.
We are very much looking forward to starting on this exciting project which will provide an excellent environmental resource for our children as well as a fantastic wildlife habitat.
