New environmental area begins to take shape!
The Living Forest Team have been hard at work to install new fencing around the perimeter of our environmental area that has been funded by a grant from Sussex Lund, a collaboration between the High Weald AONB Partnership and the Lund Trust, a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin.
The top rails are still to be added and there is a pedestrian gate to go in once the old fencing has been removed from around the pond. The field gate will allow access for the major work and routine maintenance of the area once established. The photo with the missing gate (and mole hill!) shows the public footpath that goes past the area. This new fencing means that the whole area can be safely managed whilst work to the pond itself is carried out, as well as providing a safe and enlarged area once the pond is restored and in supervised use by the children. Some clearance work has already taken place and the trees in our mini orchard have been professionally pruned by Jack and his mum!
