Ancient Egyptian Day!
Here are some photos from our Egyptian Day!
In the morning we took photos of our wonderful costumes. We then looked at what life was like for an Ancient Egyptian and discussed what jobs there would have been.
After break, we had a pyramid building challenge! The task was to build a pyramid using only six paper straws and a limited amount of tape. Firstly, we worked together to try and build the 3D pyramid. We then built our own after discussing the best structure.
While we were busy with the activities, Mrs.Hollamby took groups to start making their bread! Everyone worked really well together and used their maths skills to measure and weigh the ingredients.
We left the bread to prove over lunchtime. After lunch, we flattened out our dough ready for baking! While we waited for the bread to bake we painted our scarab beetle ; which is seen as a symbol of immortality, resurrection and protection.
After we had painted our beetles, it was time to taste our bread! We dipped our warm bread into some runny honey; it was delicious!
