Mrs Hirst's assembly tackled the parable of the Good Samaritan. In the assembly there was also the unveiling of the Community Box!! This box will soon be sitting outside the front door to the school. It was made by former pupil Miles (brother of Monty & Ted) who embraced ALL three of our values: it is entirely made out of recycled materials (aspiration), it is completely his own design based on having to work around the resources available (resilience); it was MADE BY ONE OF US FOR ALL OF US (community)!! Thank you Miles from all of us at Colliers Green.

Following this, the children spent the morning grouped into houses. There was  singing (learning the new/old school song!), house captain elections, supporting our blindfolded partners across minefields and baking in preparation for inviting different members of our community into our school on Thursday and Friday.

In the afternoon, we thought about how we could serve at school by applying for monitor jobs and jobs around schools. We wrote cards to someone we wanted to make feel special. There were many different reasons for wanting to write: gratitude, congratulations, missing them or just simply because they love that person and want them to know. The childen also took part in a team-building game where they had to cross crocodile-infested-toxic swamps (the crocodiles were FEROCIOUS!!) with house points available for resilience (getting yourself across); community (getting your whole team across) and aspirations (getting all your lily-pads across). It was fascinating watching the different approaches and strategies.
