Our Well Being provision at Colliers Green.

Our vision is to provide a welcoming, safe and nurturing learning environment and to make all our children, parents, staff and visitors feel valued, important and cared for. This we feel is fundamental to our wellbeing provision. We strongly believe that all children need to feel safe and happy in order to thrive and develop into the best person they can be.

Wellbeing Champions.

Our champions motto:

‘To treat others as they expect to be treated themselves’

At Colliers Green we have Wellbeing Champions in classes 2, 3 & 4. These are pupils who have shown an interest in championing positive Mental Health and Wellbeing. The champions will help Mrs Salter to capture the “Childs voice” on ideas of how the school can ensure the children are safe, happy and confident and so they know who they can turn to if they need help and support.

Role of the Champions

  1. To promote happiness and peace throughout the school.
  2. To demonstrate kindness, empathy and a caring attitude.
  3. To be helpful towards others and support their peers.
  4. To help plan activities & assemblies around Mental Health.
  5. To attend regular meetings with Mrs Salter, to talk about the whole school approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Daily Mile

Every morning, whatever the weather, when our children arrive at school at 8:45 we all join in running around the school - parents join in, siblings too, the whole school community keeping fit together.

 

Resources

Kent School Health

A team of nurses and practitioners who work with children, young people and families in Kent. There is an Emotional health and wellbeing section for advice on supporting your child/ren. The school health team may support you and your child directly or refer you to another provider if appropriate.

Kent children’s and young people counselling service

Counselling support for the emotional health and wellbeing of children & young people aged 4 to 19 years.

Kent Resilience Hub

Resilience is one of our core values. It enables our children to develop self-confidence and helps them to overcome obstacles and seek opportunities. The following website is helpful for any parent/guardian who wishes to learn how to best support their child/ren to become resilient and how to be a resilient parent themselves.

Kooth

Kooth is an online mental wellbeing community for all 10 to 25-year-olds in Kent. Kooth can support a young person should they be placed on a waiting list, not meet thresholds for support or as an additional support alongside other services. It is safe, confidential and fully moderated. Kooth offers free online counselling and support including self-help tools, articles, journals, magazines, discussion boards, and access to fully trained counsellors online 365 days a year. Counsellors are available from 12noon to 10pm on weekdays, and 6pm to 10pm on weekends every day of the year on a drop-in basis.
