Colliers Green Church of England Primary School

The House System

At Colliers Green, the children from Reception to Year 6 and all staff are divided into three Houses each named after a prominent Kentish Castle: Hever, Bodiam and Scotney. Each House also has a House colour: Bodiam (red), Hever (yellow) and Scotney (blue). Siblings are always placed in the same house and we try to ensure a balance between boys and girls, and year groups within the Houses. Children compete for their House at various events throughout the school year, culminating in our annual Sports Day.

Children are able to earn House Points for their respective Houses in a variety of ways, including: displaying school values; working hard; showing good manners; being kind to others and going above and beyond. House Points are tallied up at the end of the week and the winning House announced in our weekly Celebration Assembly.

At the end of term a special treat, for example an extra play-time, is arranged for the house with the highest house-point score.

Each House has two House Captains, a boy and a girl (from Year 6), who are nominated by the peers in their House after an election process early in the autumn term. Their responsibilities include: organising the house competitions throughout the school year; tallying house-points; assisting on Sports Day; showing round prospective families and welcoming new children to the school.
